Lions vs. Chiefs 2015, NFL International Series: Start time, TV schedule and live stream
The Lions and Chiefs are both having a rough season, and the two will face off in London on Sunday.
Detroit last played in London last season, when they scored 22 unanswered points to beat the Atlanta Falcons, 22-21. At that time, they were 6-2 on the season, but this year that record is virtually flipped as they sit at 1-6. The Chiefs have not fared much better, with a 2-5 record.
Things are going marginally better for the Chiefs, and they're coming off a surprising win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in their last game. Of course, the Steelers were starting Landry Jones at quarterback thanks to injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Vick. But the Chiefs still went out and beat a team with a lot of playmakers on both sides of the ball, something the Lions have yet to do this season.
Detroit snapped its winless skid with a victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 6, beating them 37-34. The Lions weren't able to turn that into momentum to take down the rival Minnesota Vikings in their last game though, and they lost that one by two scores. The Lions have now lost both games to the Vikings, fallen to the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, and have rarely looked competitive this season.
Matthew Stafford isn't having a great year at quarterback, despite having weapons like Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. But he's also not going to be going against a big gunslinger on the opposite sideline. Alex Smith has completed 62.8 percent of his passes for 1,824 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions this year.
He's been serviceable, but serviceable hasn't been enough to make the Chiefs competitive in the AFC West. They're far behind the Denver Broncos, and even the Oakland Raiders, at this point in the season.
