Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will not play this week against the Jaguars, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN. He is dealing with a shoulder injury suffered last week against the Titans.
Andrew Luck will not play in Week 4, according to report
A private throwing session on Saturday yielded good news for the Colts and their quarterback.
The Colts got some good news about Luck’s status during a private throwing session with coaches on Saturday. Not only was he able to throw during that session, but doctors examining his shoulder found no structural damage, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. However, it wasn’t enough to get him on the field this week.
Luck appeared to suffer an injury to his throwing shoulder during last week’s comeback win over the Tennessee Titans. He didn’t get much practice time this week, although head coach Chuck Pagano expressed confidence that Luck would be able to play. Luck hasn’t missed a single NFL game since being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.
One important factor in Luck’s health is the Colts’ compressed schedule -- they have a short week ahead, getting just three days of rest before a Thursday night Week 5 game against the Houston Texans.
Luck has struggled this season, completing just 56 percent of his passes for 753 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions in three games. The Colts are sitting at 1-2 and could use a big win over a divisional rival to get their season back on track. They’ll need their franchise quarterback to stay healthy if they want to live up to Super Bowl aspirations.
