Odell Beckham Jr. fined $9,000 for throwing punches during Bills game

Beckham was seen on camera punching Bills safety Duke Williams and was accused of doing the same to other Bills players.

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. received a fine of "about $9,000" for throwing punches during a Week 4 game against the Buffalo Bills, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.

Beckham plans on appealing the fine:

Following the Giants’ 24-10 win, the 22-year-old was blasted by several Bills players who accused the receiver of punching players after the whistle. Beckham finished the game with just five receptions for 38 yards, the lowest total since the second game of his rookie season in 2014.

Although he was not penalized in the game, Beckham insists he was intentionally targeted:

While multiple players made accusations, only a punch thrown at Bills safety Duke Williams was caught by cameras during the game broadcast.

Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore was among the players who talked to the media about Beckham's behavior after the game. Via Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News:

“It’s kind of like you’re playing your little brother and he gets mad at you for being too physical with him,” Gilmore said. “He’s a prima donna. He feels like he’s on top of the world and nobody’s supposed to do anything to him.”

Beckham hit superstar status after pulling in a one-handed touchdown on Sunday Night Football last year and has continued his impressive displays in 2015. After starting his career off better than any receiver in NFL history, Beckham’s star now shines bright on and off the field, including the fashion world where he appeared in a recent issue of Vogue.

With so much heaped on Beckham so quickly, there have already been questions whether or not the receiver will be able to gracefully handle the pressures that come with being the golden boy in New York.

Beckham leads the Giants through four games with 24 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns.
