San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin is inactive and won't play against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Boldin is dealing with a hamstring injury that has dogged him for a while now, and missed practice with the team on Friday before being declared questionable for the NFC West showdown. Boldin aggravated the injury during Thursday's practice session.
Anquan Boldin out vs. Rams in Week 8
A hamstring injury snaps a streak of 46 consecutive games played for Boldin.

Boldin, a 2003 second-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals, is one of the few consistent players on a struggling 49ers team. The reliable veteran has been especially durable during his career and the injury snaps a streak of 46 consecutive games played by Boldin.
He leads the team with 31 receptions for 372 yards and a pair of touchdowns, though free agent addition Torrey Smith isn't far behind him. Smith has caught half as many passes but has nearly the same yards, with 323 on the season plus two touchdowns of his own.
But Smith is a deep threat and not a guy that quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been able to reliably find this season. Boldin is a sure-handed possession receiver who Kaepernick can look to in just about every situation throughout a football game. Not having that safety net is a huge negative, especially with the team so absent receiving options behind Boldin.
After Smith and Boldin, there are tight ends Vernon Davis and Garrett Celek, and then receivers Quinton Patton and Bruce Ellington. None of those players have been particularly good this season, with all under 200 yards receiving thus far.
