The Chargers can’t stop getting injured

Dunlap, Liuget, Hairston, Watt, Johnson, Verrett and Green are just the players injured today.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a rough day for the San Diego Chargers, or at least it has been for a handful of players on the roster. The team has sent several players to the locker room with various injuries against the Baltimore Ravens. The big names include offensive lineman King Dunlap, defensive lineman Corey Liuget and cornerback Jason Verrett.

Dunlap left the game with an ankle injury and was in the locker room before walking back out under his own power. He was limping back to the sideline and is questionable to return. Liuget was carted off to the locker room with a foot injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the game.

Things didn’t get better after that, as wide receiver Keenan Allen left the game just before halftime after suffering an apparent injury on a touchdown catch. He walked slowly to the locker room after the play, though head coach Mike McCoy said that he just got the wind knocked out of him, according to Around The NFL. However, Allen went into the locker room again after experiencing muscle spasms and is questionable to return.

Verrett headed to the locker room in the third quarter with a leg injury.

In addition, wide receiver Stevie Johnson walked to the locker room under his own power before returning to the sideline. Both Chris Hairston and Chris Watt also sustained injuries on the offensive line and just to make things even worse, Orlando Franklin, another starting offensive lineman, was inactive for the game with an injury.

Hairston, Watt and Johnson were all listed as questionable to return. Both Hairston and Johnson did rejoin the game, though both have been on the injury report at different times this season.

The team has also been without Antonio Gates for multiple games this season, some due to injury and some due to a four-game suspension. His backup, Ladarius Green, has been healthy leading up to Sunday's game, but he also left the game and had his ankle heavily wrapped on the sideline. He will not return.

Allen, who is having a huge breakout season, has been banged up along with rookie first-round pick Melvin Gordon. The starting offense as a whole has been very beaten up and we’re not even at the halfway point of the season.
