It was hard for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to get much attention in the lead up to this week’s game against the Cowboys. The various dramas in the Dallas locker room got most of the attention. The Buccaneers provided all the drama at the end of this game, scoring a last-minute touchdown to hand the Cowboys their seventh straight loss.
Jameis Winston’s last-minute, game-winning touchdown sinks the Cowboys
It almost ended with a fumble, but a Cowboys penalty helped give the Buccaneers another chance at the win.
It almost didn’t happen.
On third-and-4 with 1:07 left on the clock and the Bucs trailing 6-3, the Winston dodges Greg Hardy and scrambles for the end zone. He leaps into the air, and it looks like he’s got the touchdown. Instead, it was a fumble. He dropped the ball. But a Cowboys holding call gave Tampa Bay a new set of downs.
First-and-1 from the 1-yard line. The Bucs run a bootleg, and Winston walks it in for the touchdown.
Dallas still had a little time left, 43 seconds, to try for a game-winner of their own. Matt Cassel threw it deep for Dez Bryant on second-and-10, and it was picked off by the Bucs. The Cowboys haven’t won a game since Tony Romo was hurt in Week 2. They also haven’t won a game with Greg Hardy in the lineup.
