The Cardinals won in Seattle on Sunday Night Football to extend their NFC West lead to three games. Earlier, the Patriots rallied from behind with a last-second field goal to beat Giants and keep their record unblemished at 9-0. The Vikings beat the Raiders and are now in first place in the NFC North. The Lions beat the Packers in the state of Wisconsin since 1991.

    Roethlisberger returns early from injury

    Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Normally the Steeelers’ starting quarterback, Roethlisberger was healthy enough to be active for the game but not considered healthy enough to be given the start. He was the “in case of emergency” quarterback, who was when forced into action in the first quarter when Jones was carted off after sustaining the ankle injury.

Vick has played in five games this season, starting three. He’s completed 60.6 percent of his passes at an average of just 9.3 yards per catch, well behind Roethlisberger’s 13.4 and Jones’ 15.5. He has also been sacked on 13.2 percent of his dropbacks, while the other two quarterbacks are both under 5 percent.

Lions only used 10 men for Packers’ FG try

Lions coach Jim Caldwell acknowledged the mistake at his Monday press conference, but would not assign any blame, saying it was his responsibility. He also admitted that the 2-7 Lions only had 10 players on the field to defend an earlier Crosby field goal attempt.

Luckily for the Lions, the Packers may have managed to block the field goal themselves. Replays show that the ball appeared to brush the fingers of Packers holder Tim Masthay’s free hand, causing to lose its spin and power. The kick, normally a fairly simple one for Crosby, ended up well short of the end zone.

Will the real Kirk Cousins please stand up?

    Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

In four victories, Cousins hasn’t had a passer rating below 90, but in five losses, his rating hasn’t eclipsed 70. If he’s good, Washington wins, and when he’s bad, the team loses. And there’s really no rhyme or reason to predict which Cousins will show up from week to week.

Against the Saints, Cousins completed 20 of 25 passes for 324 yards and a career-high four touchdowns with no interceptions. The destruction was enough to potentially get Rob Ryan fired as defensive coordinator of the Saints soon, and improved Washington to 4-5 for the year.

TJ Ward ejected after elbow shot at Maclin

It’s been a frustrating day all around for the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning got benched, and they’re getting shut out at home by the Chiefs. Safety T.J. Ward took out his frustrations on Jeremy Maclin.

Maclin blocked him on Charcandrick West’s 80-yard touchdown. Ward apparently didn’t like being blocked and gave Maclin a shot with his elbow while going down to the turf.

Beckham blames self for Patriots loss

“I lost us the game with the play down in the end zone, a play that should have been made,” he said after the game. “You can’t leave it up to the officials to get anything right. You’ve got to make the play yourself, and it was just a case of playing the play longer than the opponent.”

Beckham caught the ball in the end zone and brought both feet to the ground before Malcolm Butler punched the ball out of his hand. Many thought it was a touchdown, but the NFL ruled that Beckham had not yet become a runner, despite toe tapping in the end zone.

Cardinals backup QB dances like nobody is watching

In a close game against the Seattle Seahawks, tensions are undoubtedly high. So when there’s a big break for a touchdown, like when Cardinals running back Andre Ellington duped the defense on a draw play for a touchdown, you have to let loose!

For backup quarterback Drew Stanton, he went crazy and danced. He even ended his good moves with the ever-popular double fist pumps.

    Carson Palmer’s punt-fumble was spectacular

    Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Carson Palmer is having a good game against the Seahawks’ secondary on Sunday night, but when Cliff Avril broke through the Cardinals’ offensive line early in the fourth quarter it set off a series of Rube Goldberg machinations beginning with Palmer somehow punting a football high in the air.

Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright caught the high ricochet off the ground and almost scored a touchdown. The play had to be reviewed to determine whether he was tackled or untouched before he rolled on the ground into the end zone. The tape shows Palmer making a desperate dive to turn himself into a human log upon which Wright trips.

Is this the wildest TD celebration in NFL history?

Marshawn Lynch scored a huge late touchdown against the Cardinals. What happened next will absolutely blow your mind.

Lynch and his teammates gathered together and he calmly shook their hands. Apparently the NFL hasn’t outlawed this sort of over-the-top tomfoolery yet, but you’ve got to imagine Roger Goodell is rounding up the gang and working on something to preserve the integrity of the game.

The NFL’s catch rule strikes again

According to the NFL’s referees, Cardinals TE Darren Fells did not catch this ball, and it was an incomplete pass, not a fumble.

The Seahawks really wanted this to be a catch and fumble. After the hit by Bobby Wagner, the Seahawks were the only players around to scoop the ball up. They almost got a fumble and a shot at points before the half. Instead, this was incomplete, and the Cardinals kicked a field goal.

Brett Favre congratulates Peyton from a tree stand

Today, Peyton Manning broke Brett Favre’s all-time NFL passing yards record (although it may have been the worst game of Manning’s career.) Where was Favre as one of his greatest marks fell? In a tree stand, hunting deer. Where else?

Favre kept his voice quiet -- don’t want to disturb the deer -- and congratulated Manning. Favre’s love of hunting is quite well documented. I gotta say, he gets great wifi in that tree stand.

Peyton had his worst game while setting NFL record

    Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday, Peyton Manning did something that showed what an incredible career he had. He broke Brett Favre’s NFL passing mark to become the NFL’s all-time leader. It’s a testament to everything Manning has done, year after year after year.

On the same day, Manning had the worst game of his career, by pretty much every statistic we consider.

Follow all the Week 10 action from Sunday

Good games between high-quality teams were few and far between in Week 10 with most of the NFL’s top teams matched up against opponents that shouldn’t be able to compete. That could have made for a week of blowouts, or it could have meant surprising upsets. In the end, it was both.

The Browns dropped to 2-8, just barely behind the 2-7 Ravens in the AFC North. Baltimore had a win nearly secured until Elvis Dumervil’s facemask penalty at the last second gave the Jaguars a chance to hit a game-winning field goal. They did, winning their first road game since 2013.

OBJ had a TD. The NFL’s catch rules overturned it

With the Giants trailing the Patriots 26-24, Odell Beckham Jr. appeared to catch a go-ahead touchdown. It was ruled a touchdown on the field, but after referees reviewed the play, it was ruled an incomplete pass.

Beckham appears to have caught the ball and then touched both feet down while maintaining possession before Malcolm Butler swipes it out. Here, look, here he is, with his second foot down in possession of the ball:

Giants DBs spring Gronk for long touchdown

    Jim O’Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants had been doing a good job of pushing the Patriots around Sunday and largely bottling up the Pats’ passing game. You can only contain Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for so long, however.

With a 76-yard score in the fourth quarter, Gronk gave the Patriots the lead, 24-23.

Brown has been dealing with the hamstring injury for several weeks. Although he technically has been active for every game, Brown didn’t play a single snap in Week 8 before the Cardinals’ bye week. Even after the bye, Brown struggled with the injury, getting limited practices this week and being a game-time decision.

    Sanchez replaces Bradford after injury

    Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles originally said that Bradford would have to get X-rays and that he was questionable to return. They then announced the X-rays were negative, but that he would not return to the game. He was then diagnosed with a concussion on top of that.

Bradford sustained an AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder, but it’s unclear how much time he’ll miss, if any, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Cousins gives cancer stricken dad a game ball

    Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Kirk Cousins’ father, Don, was diagnosed with cancer this offseason. Even as his son achieved the greatest successes of his NFL career on the field, earning Washington’s starting QB role and leading them to several big wins, Don was unable to attend any of the team’s games due to his cancer.

He finally made it to Sunday’s game, and Kirk played a beauty. Cousins went 20-for-25 with 324 yards and four touchdowns with a perfect 158.3 QB rating. And after the game, he gave his dad a gift: a game ball.

Peyton Manning currently has a 0.0 passer rating

    Justin Edmonds/Getty Images

Peyton Manning opened Sunday’s game by setting the NFL’s record for all-time passing yards. Things have gone drastically downhill since.

At halftime against the Kansas City Chiefs, Manning has a 0.0 passer rating. He is 4-for-15 passing for 30 yards and three (!) interceptions. The 39-year-old was expected to take a step back this season, especially after struggling in the playoffs. What’s more shocking than his physical decline has been his mental errors, however. Two of his interceptions have simply been bad misses.

    What’s wrong with the Packers?

Green Bay has averaged just 18.3 points per game over their last three games, lowering their total to 25.4 points per game on the year, well off their 30.4 points per game rate from last season.

The Packers mustered just three points in the first half against Detroit -- their lowest first-half point total this season -- and there were a rare smattering of boos at Lambeau as the teams headed into the locker rooms. With that slow start, the Packers broke a streak of 26 straight games with a first-half touchdown, previously the longest active streak in the NFL. The last time that the Packers had been held to three or less in the first half with Aaron Rodgers under center was in Week 3 of 2012, that Fail Mary game in Seattle.

Lions somehow get first win since 1991

The Lions were set to lose to the Packers in Wisconsin for the 25th consecutive time. It’s just what happens. The world turns. Grass grows. The Trix rabbit tries to eat Trix, and mean children take it from him and laugh at him. And the Lions lose at Lambeau Field. Silly Lions: Lambeau Field wins are for the Packers.

It was all setting up perfectly. The Lions had missed an extra point, leaving the Packers down just two points instead of three. The Packers had hit an onside kick to Calvin Johnson -- Calvin Johnson! One of the best catchers of footballs in the history of catching footballs! But he muffed it:

Jim Caldwell didn’t smile even after the Lions won

The Lions hadn’t beaten the Packers at Lambeau Field since 1991, and were on their way to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory Sunday until Mason Crosby’s game-winning field goal attempt fell limply to the turf. It hasn’t been a great season for the Lions, but Sunday was a historic day for Detroit. Surely that would crack the famously stoic visage of Lions head coach Jim Caldwell.

    Nope.

Manning becomes NFL’s all-time leading passer

    Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Manning entered Week 10 needing just 3 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs to eclipse Favre’s mark of 71,838 yards and reached that in the first quarter. Everyone thought Manning would get the record in Week 9 against his former team, the Indianapolis Colts. Entering the game, he needed just 284 yards, but he fell just short when bad penalties on defense prevented him from getting a shot at one more drive to lead the Broncos to a comeback.

With the exception of 2011, Manning has played in all 16 games every year and has been able to keep racking up statistics by staying healthy.
