Carson Palmer’s punt-fumble set off a Rube-Goldberg-like series of events

Carson Palmer is having a good game against the Seahawks’ secondary on Sunday night, but when Cliff Avril broke through the Cardinals’ offensive line early in the fourth quarter it set off a series of Rube Goldberg machinations beginning with Palmer somehow punting a football high in the air.

Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright caught the high ricochet off the ground and almost scored a touchdown. The play had to be reviewed to determine whether he was tackled or untouched before he rolled on the ground into the end zone. The tape shows Palmer making a desperate dive to turn himself into a human log upon which Wright trips.

At least when Palmer fumbles, he fumbles spectacularly.
