Philadelphia Eagles inside linebacker Kiko Alonso will play against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Alonso is dealing with a knee injury that has sidelined him since Week 2, when he injured the knee against the Cowboys.
Kiko Alonso to make return vs. Cowboys
Alonso has been sidelined since Week 2 but he will play against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Alonso was acquired in a blockbuster trade that saw LeSean McCoy go to the Buffalo Bills this offseason. But he was coming off a major knee injury from the previous season, and his injuries this year are to the same knee. He had a solid debut against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, putting up six tackles and pulling down an interception. But he had just one tackle against the Cowboys before he sustained his injury.
Alonso was a full participant in team practice this week, participating in all three days. He was listed as probable on the official injury report. The probable designation is supposed to denote a 75 percent chance of playing, and everyone expected he would suit up for the crucial NFC East match.
The Eagles hope Alonso will be able to bolster a defense that ranks 14th in the league overall. They have had huge issues at the inside linebacker position all season, with Mychal Kendricks also dealing with injuries at the position earlier in the season.
Alonso had 159 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions and a forced fumble in his rookie season with the Bills in 2013. He was drafted by the Bills in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
