New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is hoping to make his return from a foot injury in Week 17 so he can get ready for a postseason run, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Julian Edelman eyeing Week 17 return to prep for playoffs
Edelman was listed as doubtful for Sunday, but isn’t expected to play next week either.

Edelman, 29, has been out of the lineup since Week 10 for the Patriots after suffering a broken foot, but had returned to practice and participated on a limited basis all week. Still, Edelman was considered a long shot to be ready for game action in Week 15 and was listed by the team as doubtful for Sunday.
Prior to his injury, Edelman was second on the Patriots in receiving yards and still is with 692 yards on 61 receptions with seven touchdowns. The New England offense scored at least 30 points in six consecutive games earlier in the year with Edelman, but hasn’t managed to reach that mark since Week 8.
With injuries to several receivers on the roster Tom Brady hasn't had a solid arsenal of weapons for much of the year, and the Patriots will even play Leonard Hankerson on Sunday, just a few days after he was claimed off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons.
The Patriots have already clinched the AFC East title and are one game ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos for the No. 1 seed in the AFC with three games left to play.
