Adrian Peterson returns vs. Bears

Peterson left the game late in the first half, but he came back during the third quarter.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson left Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears with a left ankle injury. Peterson went down hard after a tackle and seemed to twist his left ankle. He was favoring the leg as he was helped off the field by the training staff.

He was being looked at one the sideline and was testing the leg before being taken back to the locker room. Peterson later returned in the third quarter.

Peterson was having a big game before he left with the injury. He had 12 carries for 56 yards, and was well on his way to getting the league lead in rushing yardage.

On the season, Peterson entered Week 15 with 268 carries for 1,251 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 28 receptions for 206 yards and seven fumbles on the year. Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata are Peterson's primary backups. McKinnon has 157 yards and Asiata has 70 yards on the season. Neither has scored a rushing touchdown.
