With Saturday night’s 38-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington has clinched the 2015 NFC East title and will host a playoff game. It’s their first division title since 2012 and only their second since 1999.

Washington made quick work of the Eagles with Kirk Cousins throwing four touchdowns, two of them to tight end Jordan Reed.
This division title seemed unlikely in the preseason, when head coach Jay Gruden benched quarterback Robert Griffin III for Cousins and things looked like it would be yet another circus year in the nation’s capital. This team has been far from perfect, but it’s mostly taken care of business in the dreadful NFC East and now has a home playoff game to show for it.
With playoff football a lock, Washington will look to exorcise one more franchise demon -- its inability to beat the Seattle Seahawks in the postseason. The team previously made the playoffs three times in the 21st century (2005, 2007, 2012) and were knocked out by the Seahawks every single time. The last loss was particularly heartbreaking, because it was the game where RGIII tore his ACL and hasn’t been the same since then.
If the playoffs started today, the Seahawks would travel to D.C. as the No. 5 seed. Washington fans would love to get that particular monkey off their back this January.
