The New York Jets endured a 4-12 season in 2014, their worst under former head coach Rex Ryan. To remedy the situation, the team is expected to pursue New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter also reported that the Buffalo Bills have interest in the All-Pro corner.
Jets, Bills will pursue Darrelle Revis in free agency, per report
No fewer than three AFC East teams will be in the running for one of the league’s premier cornerbacks this offseason.

As a result of the Jets' disappointing year, the team has made wholesale changes. They fired Ryan as well as general manger John Idzik and brought in Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and the Houston Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan as replacements. With their attention now turned to the roster, Revis has become their top target.
The Bills will also attempt to lure Revis away from New England. Ryan, now the head coach in Buffalo, looks to reunite with his former disciple and add to a defense that finished fourth in points allowed in 2014.
Revis delivered one of his finest seasons in 2014, his first with the Patriots. Quarterbacks put up only a 70.5 passer rating on passes thrown in his direction, according to Pro Football Focus, more than 20 points better than the closest cornerback on the team. Revis also hauled in two interceptions and forced a fumble. He signed a one-year, $12 million deal with New England this offseason that includes an option for 2015. If the Patriots don’t pick up Revis’ $20 million option, then he’ll become a free agent.
Revis' career began with the Jets after they selected him with a first-round draft pick in 2007. During his time in New York, Revis earned four Pro Bowl nominations, three All-Pro First-Team honors and AFC Defensive Player on the Year. The Jets traded Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the 2013 season over contractual disagreements. Earlier this month, the Patriots filed tampering charges against Jets owner Woody Johnson for comments he made about Revis' contract.
