Soon-to-be free agent running back Shane Vereen is expected to sign with the New York Giants on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Shane Vereen expected to sign with Giants, per report
The versatile Shane Vereen will provide the New York Giants with a pass-catching back.

The versatile Vereen is arguably the best pass-catching back set to hit the market. He’ll upgrade both the passing and running games of the Giants, which is something the team hoped to find in the free agency market.
Andre Williams and Rashad Jennings combined for 1,360 rushing yards in 2014, but the pair combined for just 356 receiving yards, despite being targeted 78 times. The struggle to find pass-catching production from the pair of running backs stunted the offense of the Giants.
This past season, Vereen was part of a crowded Patriots backfield that saw him rush for just 391 yards on 61 carries (4.1 yards per carry) and two scores. He did catch 52 passes for 447 yards and three scores, however, including a team-high 11 receptions for 64 yards in New England's Super Bowl win over Seattle.
Taken in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of California by the Patriots, Vereen has 907 career rushing yards on 217 rushes with seven touchdowns in four seasons. He has also caught 107 passes for 1,023 yards for seven more scores.
