One of the biggest names to hit the market on Tuesday was cornerback Darrelle Revis, and the interest in the six-time Pro Bowler has been nothing short of intense in the first few hours of the free agent frenzy. Revis hit the open market after the New England Patriots declined his $20 million option just before the start of free agency.
Darrelle Revis rumors: Patriots, Jets, Bills, Packers among interested teams
Revis is going to be a rich man when he signs a contract.

Several teams have reportedly been linked to Revis so far, including the New York Jets, Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs. ESPN's Adam Schefter adds another intriguing team to the list -- the Buffalo Bills -- which would reunite Revis with his former coach Rex Ryan. Other teams that have been rumored to be interested in the former Patriot are the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the always-fun "mystery team," per Bleacher Report's Jason Cole.
With most of the top players agreeing to deals in the past few days, Revis is probably the best player available on the free agent market right now and he appears ready to cash in. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports that Revis’ camp has told teams that the cornerback has a three-year, $48 million offer on the table, a deal that includes a whopping $40 million in guarantees. La Canfora thinks it is from the Jets, but that is merely speculation on his part.
If that rumor is true, Revis would easily become one of the richest defensive backs in the league. The $40 million guaranteed would be the most for any cornerback under contract, surpassing the $25.5 million that Brandon Carr received from the Cowboys, per Over The Cap.
Revis spent the first six seasons of his career in New York, so a return there would make sense, and the Jets are clearly in need of an upgrade in the secondary. The Jets allowed an opponent passer rating of 101.5 last year, the third-highest in the NFL, and no team had fewer interceptions than New York (6).
The 29-year-old cornerback is widely considered one of the best cover corners in the league. He has 23 interceptions in 111 career games since being taken in the first round (14th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Jets, and has been rated a top-five cornerback in three of the last four seasons, per Pro Football Focus' grades.
