Free agent cornerback Tramon Williams has signed with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced. The three-year deal is worth $21 million, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
Tramon Williams signs 3-year deal with Browns
One of the top free agent cornerbacks is off the market.
The 32-year-old Williams was one of the best remaining defensive backs on the market. A former undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech, Williams debuted for the Packers in 2007 and has been a quality starting corner ever since.
He’s missed just one game over his nine-year career while notching 28 interceptions, 114 pass deflections and 395 tackles in 127 games.
After losing Davon House to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Packers have now two corners from last season. Their loss is Cleveland's gain, though. He may not have a lot left in the tank, but Williams should be able to come in and be a solid starting corner for the Browns, opposite Joe Haden, one of the top cornerbacks in the league.
Cleveland already had one of the top pass defenses in the NFL last season, allowing 224.5 passing yards per game, but Buster Skrine left for the New York Jets this offseason, opening a spot for Williams.
