The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced the signing of wide receiver Jeremy Maclin on Wednesday afternoon. Maclin is expected to sign a five-year deal worth $55 million with $22.5 million in guaranteed money, according to Chris Mortensen. The team will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday for their newest wideout.
Chiefs officially announce signing of Jeremy Maclin
Maclin will reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City.

A deal with the Chiefs will return Maclin to his home state. He was born in Missouri and starred at the University of Missouri before being selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Eagles. He will likely take over as the No. 1 target for the Chiefs, a team that desperately needs more production from their wide receivers.
Maclin was asked to step into the primary receiver role after the Eagles released DeSean Jackson last offseason, and he flourished despite the team's issues at the quarterback position. With Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez taking essentially an even split last season, Maclin caught 85 passes for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns, all of which were career highs.

That’s despite the fact Maclin was coming off a torn ACL during training camp prior to the 2013 season, and was forced to miss the entire year. He went on injured reserve July 30, 2013, but the Eagles signed him to a one-year “prove-it” deal Feb. 28 of last year.
That obviously went well for Maclin, who earned his first Pro Bowl appearance and this new contract. In six years, Maclin has 343 receptions for 4,771 yards and 36 touchdowns. His 1,318 yards in 2014 are significantly more than his previous best of 964 yards in 2010. That also happens to be the only other year in which he played in all 16 games, but aside from his ACL tear, he missed just one game in 2009, one game in 2012 and three games in 2011.
