NFL Draft results 2015: Phillip Dorsett selected by Colts with 29th pick

Andrew Luck just got another target to pair up with Andre Johnson.

With the 29th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected wide receiver Phillip Dorsett of Miami. Dorsett was named a second-team All-ACC player in 2014, the best season of his career, when he had 10 touchdown receptions.

He caught 13 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in 2013, which isn’t a great stat line but his season was de-railed due to a partially torn MCL. He missed five games with that injury, and also sustained injuries at the end of his 2014 season. He’s a smaller-frame receiver and there will always be questions as to whether or not he can stand up to the physicality of the NFL.

But if he can, he should be an asset to his new team. He caught 36 passes for 871 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014. Ten touchdowns in 36 receptions is definitely something to be excited about. He's also an excellent athlete, posting one of the fastest times at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 40-yard dash of 4.33 seconds and a three-cone drill of 6.70 seconds.

Dorsett will be tasked with replacing Reggie Wayne and complementing newcomer Andre Johnson on the outside. His presence will help open things up for the veteran, while giving Andrew Luck another weapon on an offense that also added running back Frank Gore.
