With the 49th overall pick the 2015 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Missouri offensive lineman Mitch Morse. The former Tiger took over for Justin Britt as the starting left tackle in 2014 and had a strong campaign, earning second-team All-SEC honors.
2015 NFL Draft results: Chiefs select Mitch Morse in 2nd round
Kansas City bolsters it’s O-line with the Missouri center.

Morse initially broke into the starting lineup in 2012 at center, but was shifted to right tackle due to injuries on the offensive line. He started 18 games on the right side during his sophomore and junior campaigns, before shifting to the blindside as a senior. Morse’s positional versatility gives him a good chance of earning a starting job early in his NFL career.
The Missouri prospect really helped his draft stock with an excellent combine performance. Morse ranked second among offensive linemen in the bench press with 36 reps, and he posted top-five numbers in both the broad jump (112 inches) and 20-yard short shuttle (4.5 seconds). He also had an impressive pro day workout, showcasing his quick feet while going through drills at multiple positions on the offensive line.
Scouts love his overall toughness, physicality and functional strength. Morse combines that tenacity and power with good balance and patience, allowing him to be a solid blocker in both pass protection and the run game. However, his short arms and concerns about his ability to contain speed rushers on the edge mean that he likely projects inside as a guard at the next level.
