NFL Draft picks 2015: James Sample taken by Jaguars
James Sample lands with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round.

It was a very productive season for Sample, who was overlooked in Louisville’s defense. His 90 tackles led the team and his four interceptions are solid for the position as well. Still, having just one season as a full-time starter is a concern, and he didn’t get much playing time with Washington before he transferred to Louisville.
What tape there is on Sample is good, however. He’s got solid size and speed for the position, he’s a great tackler and keeps plays in front of him, with a good nose for the football. He’s not excellent in coverage and will need to work on that to be effective at the next level, but there’s a lot to work with.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Sample ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds and posted a time of 7.04 seconds in the three-cone drill. He measured 32.5 inches in the vertical leap and 123 inches in the broad jump. At Louisville’s pro day, he ran the 20-yard shuttle in 4.43 seconds, the 60-yard shuttle in 11.33 seconds and put up 17 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press.
