Super Bowl prop bets: Betting on Left Shark, dabbing, earthquakes and more

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

With the Super Bowl almost near, everyone and anyone is focusing on the super-particular details of practically everything. With that come the prop bets. From the score to individual plays to even Left Shark, people are willing to wager. Here are a few prop bets from Bovada.

Will “Left Shark” Make an appearance on stage during the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

With the immense popularity of Left Shark, it’s no wonder that the anthropomorphic sea creature is on the list of 2016 prop bets. It’s safe to say that some people are as excited—if not more—to see this party shark crash the festivities than seeing Coldplay perform at halftime. (We could have had Kanye West perform!)

Will there be an earthquake during the game?

The thought of someone anxiously watching this game, hoping an earthquake happens during the game is downright appalling, but it’s a prop bet that’s available so we expect a few people to pay up. It’s borderline deplorable, especially given that the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake happened during the World Series.

There are a few caveats in this prop bet that emanate bad vibes. 1) The announcer must acknowledge that the earthquake took place. 2) The earthquake must take place between kickoff and the final whistle. Imagine an earthquake happening immediately after the game? Actually don’t. No earthquakes, and especially no betting on an earthquake happening.

How many times will “dab” or “dabbing” be said by the announcers during the Broadcast? (Over/Under: 2 mentions)

At first glance, this one seems like a no contest since Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers dab practically every game. But the announcers don’t mention it every time that they do it. With dabbing on its way out (we’ve declared it dead a few times already), taking the under might be a surprisingly smart move.

How many wings will Buffalo Wild Wings Sell on Super Bowl Day?

With enough people on board, we can totally rig this prop bet. All we have to do is decide on whether we want to buy all of the wings or none. Your call, football fans.
