The Houston Texans managed to take the AFC South, which means they get to host a playoff game despite having a worse record than both wild card teams in the conference. They are well back of the top two seeds though, and will host the fifth-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Texans and Chiefs will get the 2016 NFL playoffs underway on Saturday.

It’s a rematch of a game that took place in Week 1 of the regular season. That game was also at NRG Stadium in Houston, but the Texans hope to treat the home crowd to a better result this time around.
In the first game, the dysfunction that would become a huge part of Houston's season was let out, and fast. Quarterback Brian Hoyer started the game after winning the job over the course of training camp and the preseason, but after completing 18 of 34 passes for 236 yards with a touchdown and an interception, he was benched in favor of Ryan Mallett, the man he beat for the job.
The Texans trailed the Chiefs, 27-9 going into halftime, and Mallett orchestrated a pair of scoring drives to bring Houston to within a score of Kansas City. He completed eight of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, and earned the starting job going forward, though the Texans still lost to the Chiefs when time ran out before Houston could get another score in.
A lot has changed since then. The Chiefs, who saw Alex Smith throw three touchdown passes in the game, have become a bit more conservative, while the Texans went from Mallett back to Hoyer, to T.J. Yates, to Brandon Weeden and back to Hoyer again due to various injuries. Both teams came a long way to get to this point.
