The Denver Broncos suffered their first loss of the season in their last outing, but at 4-1 and with starting quarterback Trevor Siemian likely returning to action, they are still in an excellent position. The Oakland Raiders represent the biggest threat to them in the AFC West, but they can't overlook the 1-4 San Diego Chargers, who they will play on Thursday Night Football in Week 6.
Broncos vs. Chargers 2016 picks and predictions: Experts surprisingly split on ‘Thursday Night Football’ game
Experts aren’t in agreement when it comes to the primetime matchup between the Broncos and Chargers in Week 6. Come watch the game with us with our live Twitter stream.
While the slumping Chargers don't constitute a real threat against the Broncos in the division, they can easily make things tougher for them in the head-to-head matchup. There's still a chance that Paxton Lynch will be starting for Denver, depending on the health of Siemian.
But whoever starts, the Broncos should be favored by just about everyone. They have a better offense in general, with better receivers and a better offensive line. And defensively, they are far superior, ranking sixth in the league in total defense while the Chargers come in ranked 23rd. San Diego is also riding a three-game losing skid, so things aren’t looking great for them.
As far as experts are concerned, it’s no surprise that many are picking the Broncos. Of the nine ESPN analysts two picked the Chargers at home, while the other six went with the Broncos. But the folks at CBS Sports seem to be thinking upset, with their eight experts split at four apiece.
Here at SB Nation, there are also those who think the Chargers will come out on top.
