New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady punished the Cleveland Browns for their very existence in his first game back from a four-game suspension, and while being a destructive force against a bad team is still impressive, his first true test will come on Sunday. Brady, in his first home game this season, will try to lead his Patriots past the tough Cincinnati Bengals in the start of a tough four-game stretch.
Bengals vs. Patriots 2016 live stream: Start time, TV schedule and how to watch online
Tom Brady will play his first home game of the season against the Bengals on Sunday.
Sunday’s game has a kickoff time of 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on television via CBS. A live stream online will be available via an online Sunday Ticket subscription, but that will be the only way to catch the game online.
The Patriots will face the Bengals at home, then go on a road trip against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills before returning home to host the Seattle Seahawks. That's a tough four-game stretch, especially given that the Bills are the only team to have beaten the Patriots thus far, and they did it in Foxborough.
Of course, Brady wasn't under center for that game. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo wasn't even playing in that game, as third string rookie Jacoby Brissett started that game while dealing with a thumb injury. The Bills will be confident going into that game, but the Patriots can build up plenty of their own confidence if they can stymie Andy Dalton and the Bengals.
That hasn't been the toughest task this season, as the Bengals are out to a disappointing 2-3 start. The Bengals own wins over the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins (which the Patriots will be thankful for) but they have lost to all the good teams they've faced: the Steelers, Denver Broncos and surprisingly, the Dallas Cowboys.
Cincinnati is coming off that loss to Dallas, where they had no answers on either side of the ball. It was a 28-14 loss that saw the Bengals put up 269 yards and two touchdowns passing from Andy Dalton and just 96 yards rushing as a team. They have been decent on both sides of the ball but nothing more than that: just decent.
Brady passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns in his return against the Browns, and the Patriots as a team rushed for 98 yards. The offensive numbers are sure to change a whole lot in the coming weeks, but defensively, the Patriots are playing well.
The Patriots rank fourth in the league in points allowed at 14.8 per game. They also rank 14th in the league in yards allowed per game. Cincinnati comes out better there, ranking 12th, but allowing 22 points per game, at 16th in the league in that category. Offensively, the Bengals rank 24th in the league in points scored at just 18.4, while the Patriots, even with multiple backups playing, rank 17th at 22.8 points per game.
