The AFC West is up for grabs, and the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos will clash in a Sunday Night Football showdown to determine the top spot in the AFC’s toughest division.

It’s an unstoppable offense vs. immovable defense kind of showdown for the top spot in the AFC West.
Denver’s defense hasn’t shown any signs of a post-Super Bowl hangover, somehow getting even scarier in 2016. The Broncos lead the league in quarterback harassment, thanks to an NFL-high 26 sacks. No one has been a bigger part of that fearsome pass rush than Von Miller, who is tops among defenders in QB hurries (21) and second in sacks (8.5).
With the All-Pro linebacker leading the way, Denver has helped gloss over concerns about an offense in peril. The Broncos allow the fewest passing yards in the NFL, but also throw for only 221.6 themselves — a mark ranked 27th out of 32 teams. The team has struggled to replace Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler behind center. Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch have combined for a passer rating of just 86.9.
Oakland hasn’t had to deal with many problems on offense. Derek Carr has emerged as a potential MVP candidate in his third season as a pro. He’s teamed with Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree to give the Raiders one of the NFL’s top passing attacks this fall.
The Raiders’ defense hasn’t played at nearly as high a level. Oakland has given up 410 yards per game this season, worse than every team but the 0-8 Browns. That keeps putting pressure on Carr to come out ahead in a shootout, as evidenced in last week’s overtime victory over Tampa Bay.
Sunday night’s matchup will pit one of the league’s top passing offenses against its top passing defense. On the other side of the ball, two disappointing units will try to gain traction and turn their season around.
