This year, NFL teams decided to get a jump start on the draft. The action kicked off in early April when the Rams sent six picks to the Titans in exchange for the No. 1 overall selection. A week later, the Eagles elected to make a similar deal with the Cleveland Browns and trade up for the No. 2 pick.
2016 NFL Draft: Time and TV schedule for Thursday’s Round 1
Will Jared Goff go No. 1? Tune in Thursday night to find out.
Both teams need quarterbacks and so it would come as a shock if California's Jared Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz aren't the first two players to hear their names called Thursday night. It's also worth noting that most reports have the Rams leaning toward Goff, though that could always change at the last moment.
The Chargers hold the No. 3 pick and are expected to target either Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil or Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. Most forecasters (including our own Dan Kadar) had Tunsil pegged as the draft's top pick if the Titans hadn't traded down.
There are also a number of teams worth keeping an eye on. Will the Cowboys try to draft Tony Romo's successor, and will any other quarterbacks go in the first round? Where will top running back Ezekiel Elliott land? What about the talented-but-mercurial Noah Spence?
Of course, there could always be more trades. There’s already talk that the Jaguars are looking to trade down and it’s possible the Browns may not be done making moves. As viewers, we can only hope that we get some draft night excitement. For a TV event like this, there’s nothing worse than seeing a bunch of predictable results.
