Trades dominated the first round of the NFL Draft. Here’s how you can catch the action on Day 2.
Big-name players are still available in these rounds, and there’s the potential for teams to walk away with some real steals. Linebacker Myles Jack is the top player still on the board. He was mocked as a top-five pick for much of the pre-draft process, but Jack has health concerns and the biggest question of Day 2 will focus on whether or not he continues to fall.
The Cleveland Browns will kick things off in the second round with the 32nd overall pick. They took wide receiver Corey Coleman after moving back in the first round, and with quarterbacks like Connor Cook and Dak Prescott still on the board, there have a few interesting options.
There were just 31 picks in the first round after the New England Patriots lost their first round selection as part of the league's DeflateGate sanctions. They make up for it with back-to-back picks toward the end of the second round.
The Tennessee Titans have three picks in the second round, thanks in part to their trade with the Los Angeles Rams which allowed the Rams to select Jared Goff with the first overall pick. The Browns have three picks in the third round following their trade that allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to take Carson Wentz with the second overall selection.
The third round also features the first compensatory picks of this draft. The Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will all get a shot to lock up some more talent at the end of the third round with additional picks they received from the league to compensate for players they lost in the previous season's free agency period.
In recent years, players like Russell Wilson and Le'Veon Bell were selected in the second round, and they've become household names. Joe Montana was a third-rounder back in 1979, and he turned out to be pretty decent.
NFL Network and ESPN will both air the draft live on television, but if you don’t have cable, you don’t have to miss any of the action. You can stream the draft on your computer at NFL.com/Watch, or you can enjoy the draft via the WatchESPN app on your phone or tablet. Verizon Wireless customers can watch the drama unfold on their smartphone or tablet with the NFL Mobile app.
