A 4-9 Denver team will travel to play 3-10 Indianapolis in a game meant to make each side wistful for the days of Peyton Manning. Each side has struggled with quarterback play since losing the future Hall of Famer, whether it’s keeping a star passer healthy (Colts) or just finding one in the first place (Broncos).
These two offensively-challenged teams meet on Thursday Night Football. The broadcast begins at 8:30 p.m. ET and broadcast live on NBC and the NFL Network (live stream).

You can make a strong argument that the Broncos should take a quarterback. But consider that they play against pass rushers like Joey Bosa, Justin Houston, and Khalil Mack twice every season. Having a good offensive line is paramount, and Denver particularly needs an upgrade on the right side. Williams is the draft’s top offensive tackle and could start for Denver straight away.
- Last week’s Colts-Bills game was amazing for one reason — copious amounts of snow.
- The Denver defense rebounded with a dominant performance last week, even if it was against the Jets.
Marshall received PFF’s game ball for posting an outstanding 94.7 grade in run defense. He posted five tackles and a strip sack in the game. Overall, the entire defense rallied to completely shut down the Jets in all phases of offense.
- Andrew Luck hasn’t been with his team in a while -- he’s overseas trying to fix his ailing shoulder.
He’s doing fine. Communicating via email and text, making progress. I think everybody knows he’s in Europe somewhere getting some great treatment. Where that is exactly, you guys probably know more than I know. I don’t get on social media and all that stuff, so I don’t know.
Will either of Thursday’s starting quarterbacks be starters in 2018?
Week 15’s prime time matchup — a game Amazon dropped nearly $5 million to stream -- will feature the immortal QB pairing of Trevor Siemian (benched twice in 2017) and Jacoby Brissett (New England’s third-string quarterback in August). The final three weeks of the season may be a last hurrah for each player. General manager John Elway has replaced Siemian with prospect Paxton Lynch and malfunctioning stilt-robot Brock Osweiler this fall, and Denver will likely look to add another impact quarterback this offseason. Brissett is under contract with the Colts for two more seasons after this, but a healthy Luck would leave him as one of the league’s better backups.
Each QB still has time to prove himself as a legit NFL starter — but that time is running out quickly.
