In the last hour before the kickoff of Super Bowl 51, the team of commentators on Fox’s network pregame show unveiled game picks. Four of the panel’s five members went with the Patriots to beat the Falcons.
Super Bowl 2017 picks: 4 out of 5 Fox pregame analysts choose the Patriots
Michael Strahan’s on an island.
So, for the Patriots, that’s Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, and comedian Rob Riggle. Long’s son, Chris, is a defensive end for the Patriots, so it’d be somewhat treasonous for him to choose against them. Michael Strahan, the former defensive end who beat the Patriots with the Giants in Super Bowl 42, picked Atlanta.
SB Nation’s panel of NFL pickers was significantly more split. Five of the nine chose Matt Ryan and the Falcons over Tom Brady and the Patriots.
It seems like a fairly safe bet that most of the country hopes the Falcons win the game. After all, they’ve never won a Super Bowl, while the Patriots have made a habit of it.
Did the Fox majority get it right? Let me know.
