Pittsburgh is a sports town, and one of the cool things about the local sports scene is that players on the three major professional teams (the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates) sometimes get really rowdy in support of one another. Recall that during last year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, Pirates ace Gerrit Cole was sitting behind the glass, drinking a tallboy, and screaming at the Capitals as they were about to take the ice:
Steelers kicker Chris Boswell says he got thrown of the Penguins Stanley Cup game
The Penguins won 6-0. Maybe it could’ve been 7-0 if the Steelers kicker didn’t get thrown out of the arena.

The Penguins are in the Cup Final again this year, and the rest of the city’s athletes are once again engaged. Maybe too engaged, if you take this tweet from Steelers kicker Chris Boswell at face value. He says he got tossed from the Pens’ Game 5 blowout of the Predators on Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena:
On Tuesday, he elaborated on the story, blaming a grumpy usher for his removal from the game:
“The Penguins won 6-0, but they didn’t get the extra point because the kicker got thrown out of the game” is a joke multiple people have made. Ha ha.
Not that this is in any way the same as Boswell banging on the glass, but the Steelers have a history of rowdy kickers. In 2009, kicker Jeff Reed got into what sounded like a serious dustup with a paper towel dispenser in a Sheetz bathroom and was cited for disorderly conduct. Never say that kickers do not have the same emotional intensity as other football players.
