Aaron Rodgers adds the Jets to his list of festivus grievances

Rodgers wanted to be cut over the phone, for some reason.

Aaron Rodgers did more Aaron Rodgers things on Thursday when he seemingly teased his retirement on The Pat McAfee Show talking about how he was in a “different place in his life,” and saying his focus was on his personal life — only to then back away from the ledge, saying he hasn’t decided whether he’s going to play or not.

That wasn’t the only Rodgers-related drama of the day, though — because he went on to beef with the Jets over how he was informed they were going to be cutting him when Aaron Glenn took over as head coach.

Essentially Rodgers is upset that he flew to the Jets facilities to meet with the team in person, only to then have them cut him. He would have preferred it to be done over the phone and save him the time, which is a staunch difference from how he felt in 2013.

Here’s the thing: What the Jets did was totally normal. Any time a team is planning to cut a player or move in another direction the default practice is to meet with the player in person. It’s a sign of respect. Is it unfortunate that Rodgers had to travel cross country to get to the facilities, but it’s on him for choosing to spend his offseason so far away from the team he was under contract with.

It feels as though if the Jets cut him over the phone all we’d be hearing about right now is how the team didn’t respect him enough to meet him in person. Rodgers is the master of feeling slighted by anyone and everything in his life, and this is no different.

Another Aaron Rodgers mountain out of a mole hill. Good luck to the Steelers if he decides to play there.
