2011 WJC, USA Vs. Canada: Quinton Howden Gives Canada 2-0 Lead In First

If the Canadians had any ill will to how the Gold Medal Game went last year, the Canadians are just beating the Americans up and down the ice at the moment.

Quinton Howden scored Canada’s second goal of the game at 13:54 in the first period on a simple deflection from a Brett Connolly pass. Jack Campbell has been left out to dry on both of the Canadian goals as the American defense has not been spectacular at the moment.

The Canadians look like the better team at this point, beating the Americans to most loose pucks and swarming the puck really well. Whether it is a bit of nervous energy or the fact that Canada played in a pressure filled game yesterday, the Canadians seem like the team that wants to win the most. If the Americans can survive the first period with a two goal deficit, they should be able to regroup and make this a close game.
