Mike Commodore was waived by the Columbus Blue Jackets just a few days after requesting a trade, and he says that the whole situation is “personal” between him and coach Scott Arniel. Commodore has been a healthy scratch of late, but he doesn’t believe it’s true that he can’t crack the ailing CBJ lineup.

Here’s some of what he told the Columbus Dispatch:
“I think it is personal,” he said. “He says it isn’t, but I have some serious doubts. I was playing well before I was scratched. That trip (to western Canada) might have been one of the better road trips I’ve ever had, and then we get back and I get scratched.
“For him to say I can’t even crack the lineup on a team that it would be one thing if we were in first place. But for a team that’s up and down, I just don’t buy it. Sorry.”
Arniel, obviously, denies all that. What’s important here is what’s already done, though. Commodore still has two years left on his contract, which will see him earn at least $3.35 million a year, and because of that, it doesn’t look like he’ll be claimed on waivers or traded.
