Official: Jamie Langenbrunner Traded To Dallas Stars

The news is now official. The Devils have traded their captain, 35-year-old right wing Jamie Langenbrunner, to the Dallas Stars for a conditional draft pick in 2011. The team made the news official with a 10:30 a.m. conference call.

General manager Lou Lamoriello announced that the Devils will get a second round pick from Dallas should the Stars advance to the second round of the 2011 playoffs, or if they re-sign Langenbrunner prior to July 1. He’s an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

If the Stars re-sign Langenbrunner after July 1, the Devils will get the second round pick but they’ll also send a third round pick back to Dallas. If he doesn’t re-sign in Dallas at all and the Stars fail to win a playoff round, New Jersey will receive a third round pick.
