James Neal scored his seventh goal of the season and the Pittsburgh Penguin took care of the Montreal Canadiens, 3-1. Pittsburgh scored the first three goals of the game, one in each period, before Montreal found the back of the net as the third period came to a close.
Canadiens Vs. Penguins: Pittsburgh Starts Strong, Downs Montreal 3-1
Neal opened the scoring midway through the first period, putting the Penguins on top, 1-0. Just two minutes into the second period, Joe Vitale made it a 2-0 lead early in the second period as the Penguins took control of the game.
In the third period, Arron Asham made it a 3-0 lead for Pittsburgh, scoring five minutes into the frame. Brian Gionta ensure Pittsburgh wouldn’t secure the shutout, getting Montreal on the board with just under two minutes to go in the game.
