The Tampa Bay Lightning are scary good when the puck is in their offensive end. With guys like Steven Stamkos, Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Simon Gagne, they’re a threat to score basically all the time. Then, they get up a man, and scoring becomes almost a certainty. (Okay, so that’s pushing it, but the St. Louis Blues won’t argue the point.)
Blues Vs. Lightning: Steven Stamkos Scores 40th Goal As Tampa Tops St. Louis In Overtime
Lecavalier scored the game-winner on the power play in overtime to give the Lightning a come-from-behind victory of the Blues, keeping them on pace with second-place Washington in the Southeast Division. The goal came heartbreakingly close to the end of overtime for the Blues -- just six seconds before the horn.
Steven Stamkos added his 40th goal of the season (yes, there are still 30 games left) and Steve Downie scored his sixth with about seven minutes left in the game to even the score at 3-3. Dominic Moore also scored for Tampa.
Dan Ellis made 29 saves in the winning effort as he gave Dwayne Roloson the day off. Ty Conklin, in for the injured Jaroslav Halak, made 36 saves in the loss.
