The Vancouver Canucks might never stop winning. Despite injuries coming from every direction, the Canucks won their sixth straight game last night, a 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Mikael Samuelsson scored two on top of goals from Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows. Roberto Luongo made 31 saves in the win.
Senators Vs. Canucks: Vancouver Holds Off Ottawa Threat En Route To Another Victory
And jeez, you talk about two teams going in opposite directions -- the Senators’ loss was their 10th straight. It wasn’t for lack of trying, though. Ottawa throughly controlled the first 20 minutes but were somewhat deflated when Burrows and Kesler quickly made it 2-0 in a span of just 1:50. The Sens kept at it, though, and despite falling to a 3-0 lead, they were eventually able to cut it down to 3-2.
That second goal, a Jason Spezza tally, came via a rare three-on-none chance.
It wasn’t enough to turn the momentum completely in Ottawa’s direction, however. Despite playing down a defenseman after losing Keith Ballard in the first period, the Canucks were able to hold off the rest of the Ottawa surge before Samuelsson’s empty netter sealed the deal. Another win for Vancouver, another loss for Ottawa.
