There are several teams that aren't too happy with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabres this morning. Teams like Toronto, the Rangers... hell, even Atlanta and New Jersey. Why, you ask?

Because in a match-up of the eighth-seeded Hurricanes and the ninth-seeded Sabres, the two teams couldn't be nice and get things done in regulation, making the contest a simple two point affair. Instead, the teams went to OT, and while the 'Canes walked away with two points thanks to a Jamie McBain winner, the Sabres picked up the charity point.
Without that charity point, the Leafs would be tied in points with the Sabres this morning. Instead, they’re one behind. Ah, the joys of the NHL’s convoluted points system. Let’s take a look at that McBain goal, which only took 26 seconds beyond regulation to occur.
The win bumped Carolina over the Rangers in the East.
