Political Debate Could Be Postponed Due To Schedule Conflict With Canadiens Playoff Game

In America, where we’re collectively crazy about football and plenty of other things, could any of us imagine a Presidential debate being postponed for any sort of sporting event?

↵That’s exactly what’s happening in Canada this week, as Quebec political leaders hope to postpone a debate in some election that I can’t figure out because I don’t pay attention to Canadian politics.

Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe asked Sunday that the French-Language party leaders debate, currently scheduled for Thursday, be moved up to Wednesday so as not to conflict with an NHL playoff game between the Canadiens and the Boston Bruins.

↵

↵Seriously, this would only happen in Canada. No word on if it’ll actually be postponed, but would we be shocked if that turned out to be the case?

↵The Habs and Boston Bruins are scheduled to begin their first-round playoff series on Thursday night at Boston’s TD Garden.
