The last time the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals played back on February 25, Mike Green took a shoulder from Derek Stepan after the two got into a bit of a scuffle. He hasn't played a game since.
Mike Green In Washington Capitals Lineup For Game 1
On Wednesday night, Green will be back in the Capitals lineup as they host the Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. Via the Washington Times:
“I’ll be playing,” he said Tuesday. “Expect to see me out there.”
Sounds like a declaration, no? Then, minutes later, coach Bruce Boudreau termed Green a “game-time decision.”
“I think he’s ready to play,” he continued. “It’s a question of how he feels [Wednesday] and if he’s comfortable playing and we’re comfortable putting him in, I guess.”
Obviously, Boudreau is covering his playoff bases here. Green is in, no matter what hedging Bourdreau does on the subject. For more on the importance of Green and his impending return to the Caps’ lineup, check in with Japers’ Rink and SB Nation DC.
