After the first two periods saw the Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks score a goal apiece, the action heated up in the third period with the game on the line. It was a scoring outburst at the Honda Center as the Ducks and Predators traded punches throughout the third quarter. The scoring began early as Anaheim broke the draw right out of the gate, putting themselves in the driver’s seat to begin the third period.
Predators Vs. Ducks Score: Shea Weber Forces Overtime With Late Goal
Just 40 seconds into the period, Bobby Ryan found the back of the net to put the Ducks up, 2-1. After conceding the first goal of the game, Anaheim scored two unanswered, one in the second and Ryan’s to open the third, to seize the lead.
Midway through the period, Joel Ward answered with a goal of his own for the Predators, leveling the score at two. Jason Blake answered for Anaheim three minutes later, putting the Ducks back in front, 3-2. It was Blake’s second goal of the game and was assisted by Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu.
With time running down, Nashville was forced to play with an extreme sense of urgency while pushing for the tie. And with 36 seconds to go, the Predators prayers were answered as Shea Weber scored to tie it up at three.
The final 30 seconds elapsed, the horn blew and overtime was on the menu in Anaheim. With the score tied at three, we’re headed sudden death in Anaheim in what’s been an excellent, back-and-forth game.
