Bruins Vs. Flyers, Game 3: Boston Blows Out Philadelphia, Gets Within One Win Of Conference Finals

It's a familiar position for the Boston Bruins, but with the way they've taken a 3-0 series lead over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, it doesn't look like a comeback is coming this year.

The Bruins stomped all over the Flyers in Game 3, taking a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Zdeno Chara and David Krejci in the first 63 seconds of play. They were defensive miscues from the Flyers that led to each goal, and it obviously got Philadelphia behind the eight-ball rather quickly.

But after things settled down, the Flyers seemed to play a bit better. Sustained offense seemed to escape them, but they got plenty of solid scoring chances on Tim Thomas. Solid defense and better goaltending kept those chances out of the net, and when a miscue from defenseman Danny Syvret turned a chance into a three-on-two rush, the Bruins scored and put the game out of reach.

By the end of the second period, it was 4-1 after another Boston goal and a too-little, too-late tally from Andrej Meszaros, and the worn down Flyers had nothing left to give in the third. Boston scored again to make it 5-1 on their first power play goal of the postseason.
