It is being reported that the Calgary Flames have asked 31-year-old defenseman Robyn Regehr to waive his no-movement clause for an apparent deal to the Buffalo Sabres.

Chris Butler is a solid young defenseman who has been caught in a numbers game on the Sabres blueline. Butler has played in 155 games over three seasons for Buffalo with five goals and 36 points in that timeframe. Paul Byron is a offensive prospect that has eight NHL games in his career.

The deal is not official as of yet and neither the Flames nor the Sabres will comment. According to John Vogl of the Buffalo News, Regehr has been calling former teammates to inquire about Buffalo but it isn’t known whether he will officially waive his no trade clause.
