Sean Avery has been released from a Hollywood jail on $20,000 bail after he allegedly shoved a police officer, who had arrived at the home to investigate noise complaints.

We’ll ignore them calling Avery a “star.”
Avery is now out on $20,000 bail, and the New York Daily News reports that he’ll face a hearing on September 2. The crime he’s charged with is only a misdemeanor, so it doesn’t appear as though Avery will have jail time in his future, although the Bergen Record reports that the charge does come with a penalty as high as year in jail. It could just be a paltry $2,000 fine though, too.

Getty ImagesSo basically, Avery was having a party, and when the authorities came to ask him to cool it down a bit, he treated them more like an NHL referee sending him to the box for tripping and less like an actual enforcer of the real law.
Of course, Avery is one of the most polarizing men in the game today. There’s no beating around the bush here, even if you’re a Rangers fan: Avery is a jerk on the ice. Effective, perhaps, but a jerk.
