You didn't think this was going to get better for Sean Avery, did you? After the New York Rangers forward was arrested early Friday morning for shoving a police officer at his Hollywood home, it's been reported by TMZ that he called those police officers "fat little pigs" during the confrontation.
Sean Avery Arrested, Released On Bail; Reportedly Called Cops ‘Fat Little Pigs’
NHL star Sean Avery challenged cops to a FIGHT when they responded to his Hollywood Hills home this morning ... calling them, “Fat little pigs” ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ. [...] Sources tell us 31-year-old Avery immediately began running his mouth at the cops -- telling them he would fight all of them ... even challenging them to, “Come back without your badges.”
We’ll ignore them calling Avery a “star.”
Avery is now out on $20,000 bail, and the New York Daily News reports that he’ll face a hearing on September 2. The crime he’s charged with is only a misdemeanor, so it doesn’t appear as though Avery will have jail time in his future, although the Bergen Record reports that the charge does come with a penalty as high as year in jail. It could just be a paltry $2,000 fine though, too.
We’ll see if this impacts his role with the Rangers, as training camp begins in about a month and a half.
