Canada vs. Slovakia, WJC 2013: Preview, TV schedule, game time and more

Canada and Slovakia will meet on Friday morning in each team’s second game in the 2013 World Junior Championship.

Canada and Slovakia will compete in their second game of the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, on Friday morning.

Canada will be entering the contest fresh off a dominating performance against Germany on the opening day of the tournament. Registering nine goals on 46 shots, Team Canada managed to record the first regulation win in Group B with a a 9-3 final.

Edmonton Oilers star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins recorded five points in the contest (one goal, four assists) and was one of six members of Team Canada to register multiple points in the game. In total, 14 Canadian players ended the game with a point. Goaltender Malcolm Subban registered 25 saves on 28 shots.

Slovakia opened the tournament with an overtime loss to Team Russia. After tying the game at 2-2 in the final minute of regulation, Slovakia took a penalty late in overtime that resulted in a Russian goal with 10 seconds remaining in the extra frame. Slovakia earned a single point for the effort.

Friday’s game between Canada and Slovakia will be broadcast live in the United States at 4:30 a.m. ET on the NHL Network and will be re-aired at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be aired live in Canada on TSN and will be re-broadcast at noon and 7:30 p.m.
