The series shifts back to Phoenix on Saturday night, and the Coyotes are one win away from their first playoff series win since moving to Phoenix in 1996.
Smith stopped 30-of-32 shots on the night and the Coyotes effectively blocked 21 from getting to the net. Crawford struggled, surrendering three goals on just 19 shots. Phoenix was the more physical team on Thursday night, out-hitting the Blackhawks 50-32, and held a 27-21 edge in the face-off circle.

We’ve seen a pair of fights, one of which led to Paul Bissonnette’s dismissal from the game after failing to secure his jersey with a fighting strap. In puck-centric matters, the Blackhawks are giving themselves more chances to score, having made 23 shots on goal to the Coyotes’ 10. Phoenix leads in hits, 31-21, but the two teams remain roughly even in most other statistical departments.
The third period is set to begin. We’ll see whether Phoenix can spring out to a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.

After one period, Game 4 of the Blackhawks vs. Coyotes series remains a scoreless affair. Early on, however, Chicago’s Paul Bissonnette was ejected for an equipment violation. From NBC-5’s Peggy Kusinski:
A player is required to wear a “fighting strap” underneath his jersey, which ties it down so that it can’t be torn off during a fight. Failing to having it properly secured is an ejectable offense, as Bissonnette found Thursday night. Here’s video of the fight, via Jimmy Traina:
