Matt Moulson, Brian Campbell and Jordan Eberle have been named finalists for the 2012 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, handed out every year "to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability." The winner will be named June 20 at the 2012 NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas.

Moulson enjoyed a career season with the New York Islanders. His 36 goals, 33 assists and 69 points were all personal bests in his four-year career. More importantly, he didn't go to the penalty box once in his final 47 games of the year after being booked for a double-minor roughing penalty against Calgary in December.

Campbell is vying to become just the third defenseman ever to win the award, and the first since Red Kelly did it following the 1953-54 season. Campbell went to the penalty box just three times during the regular season, while finishing second among defensemen with 49 assists and 53 points.

Eberle also had a fine year, racking up 34 goals and 42 assists. He and Moulson were the only two players in the NHL to record 10 minutes or less in the penalty box while also scoring at least 30 goals this past season.
