Martin Brodeur’s Gaffe Helps Rangers Tie Score, 3-3

Martin Brodeur isn't happy about this one, and that's probably some mix of being mad at himself and mad at the officials. But in reality, it's all the fault of the Devils goaltender. The puck hit his body, he went to cover it and he never grabbed control of it. Marian Gaborik poked at it through the pads, and we have a tie hockey game.

It’ll be interesting to hear what Marty has to say about this one after the game, but he has nobody to blame. The whistle was never blown because he never had control, plain and simple. And for Gaborik, who was demoted down to the third line in the game because of his goal-scoring slump, the game-tying goal couldn’t have come at a better time.

The Devils had a 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. It’s 3-3 and we’re just three minutes into the third. Let that soak in for a second as you let the relentless “Marty! Marty!” chants from the MSG crowd do the same.
