Jordan Eberle has signed a six-year, $36 million contract extension with the Edmonton OIlers, joining fellow young gun Taylor Hall in getting his big payday this summer.
Jordan Eberle Contract Extension: Oilers Fans Skeptical About Big Deal
Eberle had a very impressive sophomore campaign for Edmonton, scoring 34 goals while adding 42 assists in 78 games, combining for a team-leading 76 points in his second year in the league. Still, though, Oilers fans at The Copper and Blue appear to be skeptical that this was a price worth paying for Eberle, especially given that they don’t know if the 22-year-old will be able to produce like this again.
Can Eberle sustain the production he put up through that magical second season? It remains to be seen, and that’s a huge -- and now, expensive -- question.

Edmonton drafted Eberle with the 22nd pick in the 2008 NHL draft. He debuted with the team in 2010, recording 43 points while primarily playing on the second and third line during his rookie season.
In two seasons with the Oilers, Eberle has scored a total of 52 goals, including 34 last season in 78 games. He led the team with 76 points in 2011-12.
